Leisure Alternatives for Those Who Broke and Bored (Which Make You Feel More Intellegent on the Way Home)

Have you ever feel bored on a typical weekend but had not enough money to go window shopping around mall, watching movies in cinema, or simply visiting your favorites cafe? Some months ago, uber-boredom struck yet I was so broke and somehow this idea to feel educated came. I was managed to online search nearest museum or art gallery from my current domicile, Bogor. Since then, museums, galleries, exhibitions, and their friends stole my eyes. Public museum usually priced lower so it more friendly to us :)

One time, I visited Museum Nasional in Jakarta. For you who unaware for its location, the museum located on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat No.12 right across Monas (Monumen Nasional). It was unplanned trip as I actually want to visit other place in Jakarta but stranded there instead. It became a surprise and great memory though, because frankly it is one of the greatest museum I ever visited so far. The entrance ticket is only Rp 5.000,- for whole collection of so many Indonesian heritages. This museum divided into several sections and levels where you can find a yard filled with ancient sculpture replicas, a room of traditional appliances used in the past with each different influences of several civilizations, traditional and indigenous devices of many existing tribes from Sabang to Merauke, various diorama of Indonesian history (even pre-history), etc. Two hours was not adequate enough for me to adore every hall and corner available as the ambience back there was somehow comfortable. The museum is nicely arranged with clean and neat environment around, their collections also seen maintained which make it feels like home. Museum Nasional open every Tuesday-Friday: 08.00-16.00 and Saturday-Sunday: 08.00-17.00 while close during Monday and holidays.
I friggin love that sculpture on last photos above, its just like a time and space portal which sucked ppl inside *creep*
Another day, I was on Bandung with some friends and decided to go for Museum of Geology. Under the flag of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Museum of Geology is a very worth to visit place with admission ticket for only Rp 4.000,- Located on Jl. Diponegoro No. 57 Bandung, it is nearby the heart of Bandung City and easy to be accessed with any private or public transportations. There, you can find great description about Indonesian geology aspect; including collection of many fossil replicas found in Indonesian land, geology condition and its development of several big islands in Indonesia, common disaster history and each prevention steps delivered in a very interesting way (earthquake simulation is a must-to-try), also a room full of Indonesian resources which will make us so grateful to live in such generous mother land. When I was stepping my feet there, the museum was quite crowded from local visitor yet the place still convenient to stay and ofcourse two hours there was not enough to explore. Museum of Geology open every Saturday-Thursday: 08.00-16.00 and close during Friday and holidays.
if only they have brontosaurus fossil
Two examples above only explain general recognizable museum in two big cities in Indonesia. I believe there are many other museum spot in various cities in Indonesia where you can visit and being surprised enough to realize that there is such place existed in your town. There is also my own experience where I found a hidden ‘Museum Perjuangan Bogor’ lies only in front of most crowded shopping spot in the town with entrance fee only Rp 1.000,- It seem unmaintained and desolate outside (in contrast with shopping area just across of the building) but inside, their collection of Bogor history especially during colonization era is priceless.

To be honest, I never consider museum or gallery as an escapee or stress reliever until last year. Society around us tend to choose strolling around mall or eat in fancy cafeteria or restaurant in case of boredom attack. I won’t say those are a bad habit because I do that a lot too, but you won’t lose anything to try on visiting local museums which (I think) mainly well-preserve by government. Thankfully, some communities nowaday also going out to museum a lot including photographer community who usually take these wonderful museum collection or building as an object or even only for their background.  A website named Wisata Museum provides list of museums on several provinces in Indonesia on http://www.wisatamuseum.com/ may help you find your interest on visiting on nearest museum available in your area. In my conclusion, hanging out in museum not only save your money for other necessity but also make your image as an intellegent youngster, which is kinda cool (no? okay). But why don’t you give a try?

Love peace and gaul,
Icha

You think you have the world on the palm of your hands?

There is time when I was afraid of being jobless and ended up spamming posts in this stranded personal blog which no one ever read but hey.. now I aint that jobless and neglecting this blog became naturally unavoidable. This current job is somehow complicated for me because I still uhm half-harted on workin on it but then my quest of finding (or searching) what I want hasnt end yeah so; for the time being I had to enjoy this and be more grateful (which I am). From 9-5 on Monday-Friday, staring on my screen with arcgis, google earth, global mapper on stand by maybe sound uninteresting and it could be more boring if we had to wait for the data which is being processed for yearsss. Well not exactly yearsss with three s's but it is unpredictably long and sit on your desk while had nothing to do is waste of time but thank God we live in the era when wifi connection is a compulsary at every office. I guess I made great decision of spending my leisure office time this week in these following sites:
Followed her on tumblr quite some time ago but myinstinct to drool over infatuating food and beverages (well I am on fasting those days actually) made me stalk her timeline again. You'll find so many mouth watering provisions here, with extra credit on her way to capture it.. make your heart burst of joy just by watching over pretty pictures of lemon squares or matcha pancakes. She also has that taste of music yknow.

Also been a fan for some time now. If you know me in person ofc you can tell I am not that super stylish girlfriend with up to date radar of fashion but I ALWAYS get this euphoric feel whenever see right person wearing right outfit. Sonia Eryka is one of my fav, alongside Diana Rikasari and Evita Nuh believe me or not I kinda check their blog regularly. Lately I also fall for Anastasia Siantar and Clara Devi, they are also a gorg and rock every piece their wear.. so many beautiful ladies out here and here I am only worshippin em, my life is a travesty.

It is near end of 2013 and here I am just signing in for last.fm meheheheh. I never know everything can be so easy to follow up my fave band, discovering new music, and else. Currently scrobble everything I listen on media player and a bit dissapointed it can be scrobbled for GOM Player just bcs I almost listen all my fave kpop song thru their music videos not their ilegal downloaded mp3 tracks.

Wikipedia
Imagine the world without wikipedia *shuddering shoulders* I somehow have this habit when everytime I read things I automatically search either it subject/object, names, places, events, things by typing it on google and lurking what wikipedia said about them. Wait lemme check latest thing I concerned on..

Oh well kind of abstract dont they?
It seems there are loads of running tabs on firefox when you have nothing to do. Just when you think you well-informed about what happening on vicinity or around the world, you read things and realized you know nothing *deep exhale*
Uhm seem I still have errands to do on this lovely saturday, so catch ya later.

XOXO,
Icha

Ghibli's H&M

Hayao Miyazaki.
Studio Ghibli.
Those two names make a magical effect, very imaginative yet such touching animation. Hayao Miyazaki (b.1941) is a film director, animator, manga artist, producer, and screenwriter with career that already spanned over five decade. With his recent claimed to retire from the business, I suddenly want to rewatch all his and/or studio ghibli movies again but poor me, I only had chances to watch these four from them all: Spirited Away - Howl Moving Castle - My Neighbor Totoro - Princess Mononoke.
I am a pretty scaredy cat person who didnt really enjoy any presence of spirit/devil/ghost in a movie (yet I still manage myself to watch the exorcist), yet all movies above has this point where the main character somehow clash their daily life into world full of spirit, either good and devilish one. In Spirited Away, Chiaki which seen so little and fragile find herself in a place where regularly visited by a bunch of spirits. This No-Face spirit especially freaked me out only with his appearance and his eh-eh-eh voice. Howl is one of those good looking wizard in Howl Moving Castle which attract many of creatures (including this Witch of The Waste and me, too). My Neighbor Totoro was a very simple movie if you only ever read crappy synopsis (like the one I always write) about how children named Satsuki and Mei overcome their daily life and be-friend with this magical creature of the forest-next-door, Totoro. He (ok I am not sure, but I can just address Totoro as he) is a very fluffy creature who fond of sleep and I just want him no matter what, uhm. The most recent one I watched was Princess Mononoke where I feel dragged also onto heart of the forest with those charming tiny forest spirits called kodama.

I am sure to always remember you, No-Face

Sophie and Howl, after all the ruckuss

How can I ignore to sleep in his belly eh?

Kodama attaaaaaaaaack

Rumor said Miyazaki will no longer produce movies like he used to be but Studio Ghibli will still stand there, artworking great animation like before, or even better. I love how they actually slaps the viewer with the critics and life education derive from its movie plot without losing any grace. Hopefully can catch The Wind Rises this year :)

Always with love,
Icha

I am Taken.. by TV-Series

Morning!
I am soaking my laundry now, so it seems I have to wait like another hour before continuing my activities. Meanwhile, last night I (finally) tried to watch Dexter TV series. Yes it is old, I watched 4 episodes from the first season (2006) but indeed maybe years ago I can barely watched it. To be honest after feed up my eyes with The Walking Dead for a last month, my limit to see/watch some kind disturbing pictures had changed. It is okay for me now to watch blood splattering from blunt objects against any parts of human bodies but ugh it still gross and I am sure cant manage watching it live.
Anyhow the purpose of this post actually is.. telling you how my life recently changed in this past half year. As I manage to see myself I am quite a movie-goer (with broad sense of genres) and I had this habbit to write a review (or at least a list) of movie which I watched in a year since 2010. Some of them can be read on this blog or on my tumblr here and for some reasons I also started to watch tv series. My first encounter of tv series maybe happened few years back when F.R.I.E.N.D.S was broadcasted on the local channel but I was at an age which didnt understand any of it. High school era was superb when I never missed any episodes of Supernatural or Smallville there. At some point, I cant call myself tv series junkie but I do know some of them. These last 6 months was the jackpot, I watched like 3-4 tv series which I requested to my friend (so he can downloaded it from indowebster, yeah I know 'the power of net-world'). Now I drowned on it. Those some tv series up here consuming my time much more than my thesis. Chita introduced me to Doctor Who few months ago and now I basically adore the series much.

Broadchurch*The Walking Dead*Nodame Cantabile*Game of Thrones*Lie To Me*Doctor Who*Skins*Sherlock

Watching tv series from outside country always end with me contemplating why Indonesian tv series (or what ppl here call it sinetron) never can be that good. Nevertheless, I cant judge, because everything so different. Almost all sinetron which now broadcasted on local channel focusing on social life, I hardly find any other than drama genre. The story itself, actually just so simple (I recalling that Tukang Bubur Naik Haji was a short movie before they know made to be one of the current longest sinetron) but that simple plot seems to be dragged away and lost its focus. Cant blame the production team though because the rating actually good, my mom and granma still watch it and maybe million of people out there too. If only production people start to manage how to produce sinetron like they produce a movie, it will be like a piece of art. If some of us remember Bunda with Dinna Olivia and Meriam Belina as the cast was pretty good (and short, if compared to others so called successful sinetron episodes). Indonesian movies were good lately with broader various of genres so maybe later.. our tv series can be more worth to watch too.
Well, it seems an hour had passed and I need to do my laundry now. Catch ya later.

Bye,
Icha

#1 Distraction

My #1 distraction is watching RUNNING MAN SHOW. That's just the way it is.
Games pertama: 'catch the guest' pake efek masquerade gitu (semua orang pada pake topeng dan lagu Phantom of The Opera diputer di mana-mana (which is exciting). Games kedua: Semacam tebak gambar berantai gitu, Games terakhir: One Chance choreographic dance. I'm not going to blubbering here about what kind of games those are, because you have to see it yourself then you could understand why I love RM so much :D

Dan ternyata emang episode yang ini keren abis, karena...
1. ChangMin, terutama his adorable smile which make me want to xxx him LOL.
2. A part when Jae Suk oppa imitating Suk Jin when he unmasked all the pretty girl there. A perfect WHOA-ing for sure.
3. Bullied Joong Ki ever! I love to see him get teased :]
4. SNSD'S Gee dance. It is hilarious to saw the all the running man cast to dance. Creak-ing Gwang Soo, incompetent Ji Hyo, and Awkward Suk Jin lol. But the best ofcourse YOO HYUK!

Sebenernya banyak lagi sih yang bikin episode kali ini spesial, tapi yaa like I've said before... you have to see it yourself.
Cant wait for the next episodes, 29th! (I've watched the 28th episode, gonna talk about it later okay)

Dirty Jobs, Fresh Name

Lately I watched this 2008 movie titled "Sunshine Cleaning". It starring by Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. Actually at first I dont really feel interested in this movie but somehow Emily Blunt success to engrossed me, as always :]
It tells us about how Rose (Adams) try to handle her family consist of her unreliable sister, Norah (Blunt), his little son with a lot of imagination, and a father (Alan Arkin) which often made promises to her son although he cant always made.
Rose was ever a high school flower, lead dancer but then she just works as a maid. With her needs to fulfill she eventually jumps into a 'dirty' business involving her sister. This job called biohazard removal or crime scene clean up. They take over anything left from a crime occasion like murderer, street accident, or so.. Everything went okay until Norah did something.
What best about this movie is how a person, even like the underestimated one like Norah can became so care yet curious about life. And how their job brings them new experiences in facing death. How people struggle to survive when the one they love left them.
This movie just simple, easy to follow, and in some point of view has a happy ending. And Emily Blunt as always is adorable. Honestly I dont really know since when I trapped in her charisma (err, not charisma actually I just love seeing her in my TV or laptop screen haha). Yah like I said before this movie is really worth to watch (or maybe I havent said it before).

Grease... is the word!

So now I’m gonna post some movies I’ve been watching start this 2011 year.
Since I lost my binder who keep all the track of movies I’ve watched on 2010 maybe blogging could be my back up :D
And.. until now, February the 3rd, I’ve watched about 14 movies. Well not a big number considered at the same month last year it was about 30 or so, but well we’ll discuss it later.
Now I’m gonna share about this comedy musical movie, GREASE.

*his eyes, hipnotize me, hahah*

This movie is hillarious!
I love every dancing scene, evenmore Travolta and Newton-John really looks click at each other :) Maybe the story was so common: summer high school love, but I enjoy it.
Everything seemed so 70’s ofcourse, this is 1971’s movie. Looking all the boys and girls in that outfit is undescribeable! Make me want to ride the time travel machine and life there. The gangs thingy, wearing the same jacket. Those outfit and hair style, argh, nobody seems ugly here okay I am a moron, ofcourse everybody looks great this is a movie, not reality hah! Plus, the songs! You are gonna love it: Summer Love, Grease Lightnin', You Are The One That I Want.
Argh, I love this kind of movie. Move out High School Musical, this is the older and way better version of you <3

dreamgirls, WTH?

no offense ya, tapi sumpah ya ampun..
barusan (kira 1 jam yg lalu ding) habis liat dreamgirls di global TV.

itu yang di tengah hot abis *zzz

jadi ceritanya sekarang mama2 gaul itu udah dikarantina,
and all i can say is, WTH!
bukannya ga ngerhagain emak2 yang berjuang di sana tapi.. sama kaya reality show yang lain, dreamgirls tuh 'reality show' abis!
ada drama2nya pula.
berantem ama temen se-grup sendiri lah
rebutan kamar
ga bisa tidur
and more

dari pertama kali liat acara ini, sebenernya aku udah curiga2 gitu *apa sih*
emang judulnya acar buat ibu2, tapi yaaa
palingan kan penampilan luar tetap diperhatikan
eh bener aja
ibu2 yang lolos ke jakarta ini ibu2 gaul semua
dan sebenernya ga bisa disebut ibu2 juga sih
soalnya umurnya masih 24an hehe.

aku ga mau kebanyakan komen deh

eh udah jam tengah duabelas malem
uwaaaa. belum belajar kimia buat besok!
pergi dehh
